(24/4/2015)  Major Post Polio Syndrome Information Day - 4 June 2015

All our members should by now have received their invitation to our Post Polio Syndrome Information Day on Thursday 4 June 2015.

If you are a member and did not receive an invitation or if you are a non-member and a polio survivor then please contact us through the "Contact Us" or "Guest Book" section of the website and we will arrange to get an invite out to you.

This is a major event for the Fellowship and we urge all members to attend and get their replies back as soon as possible. We have been working closely with the British Polio Fellowship to organise this event and we have managed to get three experts to address the conference. Our own Vice-President Mr David McCrory FRCS will be co-ordinating the day and it promises to be a most informative day. We hope to have representatives there from The British Polio Fellowship, The Scottish Post Polio Support Group, The Post Polio Support Group in the Irish Republic and the European Polio Union.

It will also be a day to meet old friends and make new ones. Lunch will be provided free of charge and there will be no parking fees. There is excellent disabled parking facilities and there will even be a free Photo Booth so everyone can have a permanent reminder of the day. There will also be a cookery demonstration.

The three speakers are

Professor Gareth Williams author of "Paralysed with Fear: The Story of Polio.

Elaine Figgins Director National Centre for Prosthetics and Orthotics, Department of Biomedical Engineering, University of Strathclyde.

Jane McClenaghan, Vital Nutrition Limited.

Hope to see you all on 4 June 2015. Don't be square be there!

(13/4/2015)  Long Lost Friend

Without doubt one of the many highlights of the wonderful weekend in Leicester at the British Polio Fellowship games was the visit from our life member Josephine Finnegan (nee Hughes). It was well over 40 years since any of us had seen her but we chatted as if it was yesterday. She mentioned so many names who we would all love to get in contact with Sandra Agnew, Therese McCreesh, Frieda Donaghey and Maura McNally to name a few.

Here is a photograph of Josephine now. Has she changed much?
