(22/3/2015)  NIPF taste success at BPF National Games

After an absence of some 35 years the NIPF again took part in the BPF National games. The events are no longer swimming, shot put, javelin etc. but bowls, kurling etc. The Fellowship entered Bowls (Eddie McCrory and Christine Connolly) boccia (Joe McVeigh and Heather Scott) kurling (Jim Bailey) and scrabble (Breige Torrans and Bobby Doherty). Everyone did the Fellowship proud with Briege reaching the final of scrabble, Joe getting a bronze medal in boccia but pride of place must go to Jim who became national champion at kurling beating all comers to bring home gold. Well done Jim.

It was a wonderful weekend and we would encourage more members to participate in next years game. Maybe we will be able to enter every competition next year.

Highlight of the weekend was a visit from our member Josephine Finnegan (nee Hughes) who none of us had seen for well over 40 years. She made the journey from her home in Cornwall to cheer us on and it gave us all such a lift to see her. Josephine also gave us a load of old photographs which will be uploaded to the website over the next week. Watch this space.
