(22/10/2015)  Belfast Castle Lit Up for PPS Day

Today is Post Polio Syndrome Support day and to mark the day buildings all over the United Kingdom and Ireland have been lit up tonight to mark the day. (13/10/2015)  20 September 2015 Red Letter Day for Polio Survivors

On 20 September 2015 the World Health Organisation issued a certificate confirming that Polio Type 2 virus has been officially declared eradicated. They also confirmed that Pakistan and Afghanistan are the last two endemic countries. This is great news and we all hope that the date will soon come when the world is polio free. This is long overdue given that it is over 60 years since mass vaccination was introduced.

What governments all over the world need to do once the world is polio free is live up to their responsibilities to the 15 million polio survivors world wide who will need support for many years to come.
